18-wheeler overturns on I-49, Haz-Mat crew investigating
The following is a news release from the Lafayette Police Department:
Lafayette, LA – At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 7, Lafayette Police responded to I-49 northbound between I-10 and Pont De Mouton regarding an overturned 18-wheeler tanker truck.
The type of material being transported by the truck has not been confirmed, and personnel from the Lafayette Fire Department’s Haz-Mat Unit are assessing the situation. The truck was the only vehicle involved in the crash, and no injuries have been reported.
All lanes of I-49 were originally closed while recovery crews turned the truck upright. All lanes of traffic are now open.
